About The Winery

Château Nine Peaks is located in a picturesque landscape in the heart of Shandong Province, Laixi, one and a half hours north of Qingdao.

Dr Karl H. Hauptmann, a wine lover and visionary with a unique background, founded Château Nine Peaks. He is also the creator of European Capital Management Private Equity, and former head of European Equity Derivatives at Merrill Lynch.

The Château is constructed from local limestone and exhibits a mix of traditional Mediterranean architecture combined with a New Classic twist. The 'Ceana' Towers and Cabal stonewalls are reminiscent of the Tuscan wine countryside. The Château is a unique venue encompassing a range of services including production facilities, elegant function rooms to cater for weddings, events and conferences, luxury accommodation, and our fine dining restaurant. The unique and spacious design of the Château ensures each function, run separately or concurrently on our expansive grounds, retains the level of service and privacy expected of a first class event destination. The Chateau is designed as an individual 'village' inside a grand walled city fjord. Majestic and intimate!

Samuel CHIAO & Ken Jenkins(A.I.A), the two architects says "Samuel CHIAO:

"To work with C9P project is like the experience to work on a project of your own home. It is so important to have the family style team support so I can understand and create functional space to private to the guest and myself to enjoy in the future!" .

Layout Of The Winery

The Château is an integrated complex covering 1200 square meters and spanning five floors, three of which are located above the ground and two floors underground.

The first floor encompasses the Lobby, two exclusive VIP Rooms (German and Chinese), Grand Ballroom, Restaurant/Cafeteria, Tasting Room and Wine Museum..

The second floor consists of multiple function areas and 12 luxury hotel rooms. The third floor, the Rooftop Terrace, is one of the most enviable spots at the Château. It captures a spectacular panoramic view of the vineyards and Shandong Province. The Terrace is available to unwind with a vintage from our vast range of wines while taking in what is arguably the best view in all Laixi. It is an intimate space ideal for entertaining smaller, private events.

The two underground floors house the Château's valuable production facilities, including vat rooms, cellar, and bottling lines.

Lobby

The stone arch main gate at the Château is the entrance to an open and efficient lobby with an infinity view.

The circular marble inlay in the centre of the room gives an indication of the magnificence of the winery and its world class reputation. A quick peek inside the French style 'Bakery' window shows the wine sales shop stocked with the Château's award-winning wines and sister winery collection, along with a range of thoughtful souvenirs that may be purchased for friends or family, or simply as a personal reminder of your memories of the Château.

VIP Room Chinese

The minute you walk into the exclusive Chinese VIP Room your imagination will be captured by the dramatic 'inside out' Chinese Pavilion, with the Royal Red lacquered Palace Door featured in the centre of the room.

The Palace Doors open to a spectacular view of Nine Peaks and the surrounding winery.

The room is themed with the Forbidden City 'JIN ' tile in mind and arouses strong imagery of grey terracotta.

The most striking feature is the Dragon Eye touch. A one-off, custom-made terracotta square tile embedded in the floor of the foyer which bears the 'Château Nine Peaks' emblem in traditional Chinese characters surrounded by blossoms and birds. The exposed ceiling is constructed with hundred-year-old wood beams from ancient Chinese houses installed in a 'Hui'-style structure stack.

VIP Room German

The artfully constructed Bavarian style German VIP Room has a traditional noble wooden fireplace, and a high sloped wooden ceiling designed to keep the space open and luxurious. A solid three-dimensional wooden panel runs along nearly two thirds of the wall, coated with an à la mode William Mores design intended to evoke an appreciation of nature and harvest

Honored guests will experience the smooth, velvet touch of the solid wooden European flooring embellished with intricate European patterns and borders.

Tasting Room

Restaurant/ Cafeteria

The Cafeteria is located on the left side of the lobby, and it is more than just a Cafeteria. This multi-purpose space is 30 square meters by 8 square meters. It may be opened to both the front Piazza and back courtyard, creating an illusion of a function space that is slightly narrow, but with tall proportions.

The architect used wooden wine case labels to create a world-first, three-dimensional 'Dome' design to hide all the AC pipes, ducts and ELC. The design is so brilliant not only is it functional but it also generates great stories to impart to guests. The 12 meter polished concrete Finish Bar is another highlight of the Cafeteria space. It has backlighted Onyx stone embossed with the 'Nine Peak' pattern. Guests are encouraged to use this long bar as another wine tasting place, standing at a level where guests are eye-to-eye with experienced wine sommeliers.

The owner of the Château and Winery enjoys meeting clients and guests at the Cafeteria, under the 'Dome', to explain the origins of the Château's memorable wines, and share them with other wine lovers.
